IUCN Commission on Education and Communication – CEC

The Commission on Education and Communication, CEC, is one of the six Commissions on which IUCN draws expertise to fulfill its mission. CEC is IUCN’s knowledge network about how to involve people in learning and change towards more sustainable development, through the window of biodiversity and natural resources management. CEC is composed of more than 600 experts from over 90 countries from international organizations, governments, NGO, academia and the field. This network of experts connects IUCN managers and policy makers to knowledge, resources and experiences in using communication, education, participation and public awareness and assists them in planning and managing changes in environment and society.

The IFEJ, a network and international association founded in 1993 on the initiative of French and German environmental journalists, with the participation of journalists from 28 countries, today has members, correspondents and/or member associations in more than 110 countries around the world. Directly and indirectly, this network includes around 7500 journalists associated with every type of medium, scientific authors, filmmakers, etc.

The International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN), established in 2000, is a global partnership of coral reef experts who are working to halt and reverse the decline of the health of the world's coral reefs. Made up of some of the world's leading coral reef scientists and conservation groups, ICRAN partners have created a globally integrated action plan to manage and protect coral reefs, based on recommendations from the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI). The International Coral Reef Action Network is a coordinated response to ICRI's urgent call to protect coral reefs.

The Society of Environmental Journalists is the only U.S.- based membership organization of working journalists dedicated to improvements in environmental reporting.
